Mare Australe

Mare Australe commonly known as the souther see sits in the southern hemisphere of the Moon. It is lays in a positon where is it half on the dark side of the Moon as such it is more heavily cratered than most maria regions on the Moon.

The image also shows Rheita Vallis which is a large long canyon on the Moon's surface.

The Moon phase was waxing Gibbous being 10 days old.
